So many brides dream of getting married on the water amongst the palm trees, and California should be at the top of your destination wedding or elopement planning. Although Camila Margotta photographed this wedding beautifully, the location, the water and the palm trees isn’t what makes this California Wedding so special. The bride and groom story and all the obstacle they overcame to arrive to their big, beautiful wedding is what’s truly special about their day. All their favorite people came to celebrate a day that was many years in the making.
But let’s go back to the beginning of their story when Alex and Tyler met while traveling for work. It was love at first sight and Alex moved to San Diego to be with Tyler. Throughout their relationship, Tyler was often deployed and they had an intimate ceremony on December 24, 2012 while planning a big wedding. However, while Tyler was deployed, Alex was diagnosed with Cancer and while she was undergoing treatments and surgeries, they put their dream wedding on hold. In addition to this hardship, and while Tyler was still on deployment, they faced tragedy and lost family and friends. Saying they are been through a lot is an understatement.
Though all this, Alex remained positive and said:
“We have had our fair share of heartache and hard times. We were away from each other more than we were together, but we were always too stubborn to let go of each other… four years ago we never knew that our hardest years were quick to follow, but we never gave up. Faith and grace. Grit and strength. Love and forgiveness. And now, here we are… we MADE IT! Healthier, happier, and so excited of the future together.”
All their friends and family were really happy to finally be able to celebrate their love and union. After the ceremony who took place at Sacred Heart Church, they celebrated at Coronado Cays Yacht Club right on the water.
